VH1 Hip-Hop Honors Def Jam Tribute

Sunday, October 11, 2009

VH1 is honoring the entire label of Def Jam for their 2009 Hip-Hop Honors program, which airs this Tuesday, October 13, at 9:00 PM. The show will be hosted again by Tracy Morgan and will include performances by: DMX, Emeinem, EPMD, Method Man, Redman, Ludacris, Ashanti, Foxy Brown, Fabolous, Ghostface Killah, Ja Rule, Onyx, Public Enemy, Rick Ross, The Roots, Scarface, Wale, Warren G, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kid Rock, and Mary J. Blige.

In the '80s and '90s, Def Jam was a hip-hop power house, boasting a record catalog from various hip-hop legends. As much as I don't really like what Def Jam has become, This show ought to be ill because Def Jam has had the greatest roster of hip-hop artists ever in the '90s. I'm looking forward to seeing the show and reminiscing over all of the good hip-hop that use to some out back in the days.

NOTE: I don't expect this year's tribute to top the one they did for Big Daddy Kane. That old mutha fucka came out and did a 360 round house kick over his side dancer's head and then landed it into a split only to bounce right back up off the floor and continue rhyming live on stage. For those of you who had a chance to peep that shit a few years ago, you know what I mean when I say that it was the greatest thing I've ever seen!!!
